At 10am there were two trucks full of ten thousand bottles of water & thank you facecloths. By 10.45am there were two empty trucks and the water and thank you's were in the hands of volunteers and on their way to be given out to workers all over Dubai. Water for Workers is all about giving a cold drink and a 'thank you' to the heroes working outside in the hot hot heat to make Dubai the awesome city it is. But before the volunteers gather to spread the goodness, there is a whole heap of action that goes on behind the scenes as PepsiCo staff gather to pack, stack, box, fold, lift, and prepare the way for the Water for Workers action. It's a part of the project that a lot of people don't get to see, but it makes the project possible! Water for Workers is one of the initiatives run by the [sameness] project, a Dubai-based team of social innovators spreading goodness and facilitating 'moments of sameness'. Water for Workers is an awesome event that happens on Saturdays. But what happens during the beforehand is even more awesome.

Is “sameness” even a word? Yes, yes it is. Google it. It’s just not a very well-used or glamorous word. It doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, but then it doesn’t really need to, because it’s more about how it rolls off you. For every unique feature that makes you different from the the 7 billion other people in this world, there is one feature that makes us the same – we are all people, and we are all worth the same amount. It’s quite simple really.

From one group of workers to another - Together We Make A Difference is a joint initiative between the [sameness] project and Majid Al Futtaim, to share some goodness between Majid Al Futtaim employees and the men on the ground building their projects. A team of Majid Al Futtaim staff assembled care packs and headed on-site to spend some time with the men doing the building, give away the care packs, create together, share some moments of sameness, and above all give the message that "we care about you." In the aftermath of the super fun & really successful One + One project we sat down with the kids from Collegiate American School and asked them for their thoughts on the project that brought them together with a group of kids from the special needs focused Child Learning & Enrichment Medical Center.
