[ soles & stories JRDN ] Introducing 8 New Artists

Here they are!

We’ve had the privilege of spending the past 3 days in Amman, catching up with the eight new Soles & Stories shoe artists, getting a sneak peek at their work and learning a bit about each one. Now we can officially introduce them to the everyone out in internet land. So here they are, the eight nannies/domestic workers who will become exhibiting artists when their soles and their stories hit the walls of Blue Fig Cafe on February 8th.

Right now these eight Jordan-based nannies/domestic workers are shaking their creative bones and transforming some blank TOMS shoes, taking them from empty canvases to artworks inspired by their own journeys. The eight shoe artists are also sharing their personal stories, the joy and the pain of the journeys that brought them to today, and their hopes for where their journeys will take them tomorrow and beyond.

Each pair of re-designed TOMS, along with the shoe-artists stories, will then be exhibited and up for auction at a one-off Soles & Stories event on February 8th at Blue Fig Cafe, Amman, Jordan.

Soles & Stories is a chance to walk in the shoes of eight amazing women. It’s a chance to see their stories, hear their voice, and create a “moment of sameness” where they can be seen as more than just their job title.

Follow their progress and updates on Soles & Stories JRDN on the [sameness] project facebook page and via twitter.
