[ #ShareYourSameness ] High-Fives to Strangers

#ShareYourSameness experiments are all about using the power of the internet & the power of YOU to create some moments of sameness. Try out the experiment below, erase some lines that separate, add your voice to everyone else's and watch the goodness grow.

High-Fiving Strangers. When was the last time you received a high-five? Feels good right? High-fives are awesome. Take our 5 HIGH FIVES challenge.

What the world needs now is more High Fives .

It's the simplest of actions, one hand meeting another, a clap of sound, the feeling of awesomeness, and then just carrying on with your day...

We pass by so many people on our daily routines and you know what every one of those people need? A high five. They don't require you to stop, just to stick your hand out, and ask for a high-five back. Easy as.

So that's your #ShareYourSameness mission - High Five 5 strangers during your day and then tell us about your cool experiences, #ShareYourSameness on our social media, or write something up in the dialogue box below.

Here are some really cool examples of how this experiment could be awesome:

[ #ShareYourSameness ] Origami Sameness

#ShareYourSameness experiments are all about using the power of the internet & the power of YOU to create some moments of sameness. Try out the experiment below, erase some lines that separate, add your voice to everyone else's and watch the goodness grow.

Origami Sameness - Here's a free gift. A gift from us to you. Print it out on a regular A4 piece of paper and give it as a gift to someone else.

For all the business cards, flyers, advertisements and messages that get handed out around the world everyday, there is an over-supply of nonsense and an under-supply of things which are actually cool to give and cooler to get. Print a heart, or a few, fold it into origami and then give it away. Leave it on a bathroom stall for someone to discover later. Place it on the next bench you see. Slip it inside someones shopping bag while they're not watching (you have to be pretty sneaky for this one). Give it to the Barista who makes your coffee every morning. The possibilities are endless!

COOL EXAMPLE: Here's an awesome little note that a member of the sameness community wrote out and gave to the person who delivers their paper daily, alongside a printed & folded origami heart & a chocolate bar.

"To Hajj Mohamad, Thank You! For bringing us the paper everyday and the awesome job that you do."  - 704

Feel the love? We certainly do.

[ #ShareYourSameness ] Under the Same Roof

#ShareYourSameness experiments are all about using the power of the internet & the power of YOU to create some moments of sameness. Try out the experiment below, erase some lines that separate, add your voice to everyone else's and watch the goodness grow.

#3 Under the Same Roof - Really quick take a moment, wherever you are. Look up! Look at the roof or ceiling. Take a picture. Send it to us immediately.

TAKE A PHOTO.
We're creating a montage of all the different roofs and ceilings we get sent and piecing together an ever-growing online image to be the one place where we can all sit 'under the same roof'.

HERE'S OUR SHARED ROOF to date:

Chandni - Watching the World Cup somewhere in India, Sarah - Relaxing in a grassy park in Vancouver, Heena - Being creative at her home in Dubai, Helen - Editing Good Magazine in Dubai, Emma - Enjoying Iftar in Dubai, Katie - Out for a walk in cloud…

What does the roof you are standing underneath look like?
Is it plain? Is it bizarrely colourful?
Are you in a giant mall, sharing a roof with thousands of other people?
Are you roofless, enjoying the stars as your night lights?

Look out for the sameness, in your daily grind, your repetitiveness, your habit... STOP and observe your surroundings. Consider the rest of the world, and their ceilings they are under at this very moment. Sleeping, working, eating, creating, stressing, relaxing... and think on the sameness...

Post your picture QUICK BEFORE YOU FORGET on any of our social media
and hashtag #ShareYourSameness and be part of the sameness roof.

[ #ShareYourSameness ] When I Was Your Age

#ShareYourSameness experiments are all about using the power of the internet & the power of YOU to create some moments of sameness. Try out the experiment below, erase some lines that separate, add your voice to everyone else's and watch the goodness grow.

#ShareYourSameness Experiment 2 - When I was Your Age. How old are you right now? Take yourself back in time and find out what your parent/s were doing at your age.

Were they still single? Had they started a family yet? How many kids did they have? Were they doing what they loved, or were they still searching for what that meant to them? Where in the world were they? Who were their closest friends? What music did they listen to?

Find some answers and even if you've already heard these stories a million times before, listen to them again. It can be hard to wrap your head around the fact that THEY were once where YOU are now. Put yourself in their shoes and imagine what their life was like when they were your age. Think about the challenges that they could have been facing, and about the dreams they wanted to achieve.

Seek out the sameness. Find the common threads you might share with your mum or your dad and then share some of their story, and maybe an old school photo if you like. Perhaps you will see a little of you in their stories or maybe you will be blown away by how different life was.

Throw it up on any of our social media and #ShareYourSameness

the name game

Next time you’re on the metro and you see a familiar face on their way to work. Next time you’re standing in the queue ordering your Costa coffee from the guy who always works the lunchtime rush.
Next time you’re picking up a few items from your regular grocery store, and smile at the the lady across the counter... say HELLO. Ask what their name is and what they got up to this weekend.

Whatever Trevor, make a friend.
Share their name and a little bit of their story (and a picture, if you’re
brave) on any of our social media and #ShareYourSameness

Here's our new friend to kick it all off:

Wajid

This is Wajid

He works pretty long shifts as a security guard in our office building & we see him most days on our way into the office.
We usually have a little chit chat and today we found out his name AND the reason he is working in Dubai: Wajid is halfway through a degree in English Literature, with a major in Shakespeare, and is earning money so he can complete the final two years.
He also speaks 4 languages.
